The Geography of Hope
 Sunday, May 25, 2008
Preparations for my imminent trip to Melbourne, Australia, to participate in the Deakin Innovation Lectures, while still jetlagged from the European research trip, have unfortunately kept me from properly summarizing that European trip, which was deeply fascinating and I sure do hope to explain why in this space before long.

In the meantime, a phone interview I did from my hotel in Norway has been turned into an almost embarassingly laudatory feature in this weekend's edition of The Age (Melbourne's leading daily). I swear no bribery money changed hands; now if only Aussie publishers could be convinced I'm so fully "on the money."

Hey there. I'm in Labrador. I'm on a Life adventure of my own. I heard of you because of the radio show Ideas, cbc. I went to your home page. This is the first entry I read.

And I thought......I think I "get" this guy. The most fun journey is one done with a perfect balance of humility and arrogance. The humility to know that if there is a path, it exists because of another's doing, and any applause is theirs. And the arrogance to know the secret that everyone is living a journey, but few know it.

It seems you are enjoying yours. I am enjoying mine as well. I'm 52, a long time journeyer, and just began a job to let me Mother wounded people in the farthests north of Eastern Canada......and now all my Life makes sense.
